Hi. I've disabled auto updates in XP SP2 but everytime I startup my machine
it comes up with a message that my computer may be unsafe and that I should
switch on auto updates. This is now a bit annoying but I can't work out how
to stop the message. Any sugestions?
Thanks

Click on Start | Control Panel | Security Center. On the left click on
change how security center alerts me and tell it not to alert on
automatic updates.

Is the service running? Go to start | run. Type in services.msc, click
ok. Scroll to the Security Center Service. Is is started? If not
double click it, and if set to disabled change to automatic then start
it. If it's on manual but not started, start it. Then look in Control
Panel for the security center entry.

Thanks Rock... you're a champion. It's such a simple solution but one that
eluded me throughout my searches through the "help" documentation.
I really appreciate your guidance.
Have an excellent New Year celebration and enjoy 2005 (and beyond).
Regards
