Go into "Services" in Administrative Tools (look in
control panel). Right click on the Messenger service in
the services menu. Select properties. Stop the service
and then select it to be disabled (from choices of
Automatic, Manual, or Disabled). Click OK, and exit
services. You're done.

Hi,

This is true that you can stop the messenger services through the services
options, but this isn't the main root cause.

A proper firewall should be installed to disallow harm full packets to be
recieved that might your computer.
