Every time at startup the error message:

A CD-recording driver is installed that might cause
stability problems, including problems shutting down and
problems using a CD/DVD drive. This driver will be
disabled.
This driver might have been installed by Easy CD Creator,
Windows Media Player or RealJukebox. You might not be
able to record CDs until you obtain compatible drivers.

We believe these are the drivers for a CD-RW drive that
has been removed from the computer. There was an error
on installation of the software. We want to prevent the
error from coming up anymore, and believe that we don't
need these drivers. Easy CD Creater and RealJukebox were
never on the list of programs to remove and if are on the
computer are not needed.

Jennifer,
I had that message once due to some old registry drek leftover from
Roxio's burning software. I used this file to get rid of the registry
entries that XP was choking on:
http://www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip
The REG file in the zip removes extra "handlers" that are not normally
found in the XP registry and has been useful for many folks - Roxio and
non-Roxio users.

You might also want to read the article that contains the link for that
download. It's by MVP Alex Nichol. Besides giving a more detailed
description of the cdgone download, it contains some useful suggestions
and some good references for troubleshooting CD burner related problems:

My brother added a new post. See "Matthew M." on July 4
at 7:23am. Subj: "Easy CD Creator Error (Sharon F.)"

The attempt at using the cdgone file did not work. In
short, it affected the wrong CD writing program. Then he
restored the system state (from the back up he created
the night before), but that didn't work correctly. He's
only got 800x600, 4 bit resolution...and no options to
change to.
