Why isn't Windows Messenger (NOT MSN MESSENGER) listed on
the Windows Update Catalogue site? Windows Messenger 4.7
and prior were listed.... Is Windows Messenger 5.0 not
realy a required update or something?

It SHOULD be listed in Windows Update like the others.

Any new features or security issues addressed in this release?

Is this a good upgrade for the built in Windows Messenger
that comes with Windows Xp Professional?

This is kind of confussing....?..?

Greetings,

It's not listed on WindowsUpdate because some features within Windows Messenger 4.7 are not
in Windows Messenger 5 -- more specifically, any MSN features like Hotmail support, MSN
Mobile, MSN Profiles, etc. are removed. It's not a required upgrade by any means.

Why did MS take those features out? It's not like they weren't worth
having.

Hi,

Well they are MSN features are as such, belong in MSN Messenger. Windows Messenger is no
longer "the MSN Messenger client for Windows XP" -- it is a separate client, has its own
features, and now works on Windows 2000.

I see..... thank you! I'll stick with Windows Messenger
4.7 unless Microsoft comes up with a compelling reason to
update to version 5, or it appears in the Windows Update
Catalogue.

And like Perdita X. Nightmare said... Why were those
features removed in version 5.0?
