can capture video but no sound

hi i've been able to capture video from my sony dv handycam with windows
movie maker 2 but i cannot get the sound to be recorded. what audio device
am i supposed to use and what audio input device. i am connected through a
usb cord.

USe firewire, it was designed specifically for dv cams.
