A search of my system shows sndvol32.exe (not 35) as being in both
windows\system32 and also windows\system32\dllcache, which I believe
is designated as hidden. Any chance that you still have one left?

I didn't see all of the original post, so if you're referring to the
little icon in the system tray, you should be able to restore it by
going into Control Panel \ Sounds\ and checking "Place volume icon in
the taskbar".
