Opening IE6.0 logs me onto Messenger

Help!! Every time I open IE 6.0, it automatically logs
me into Messenger... without notification - very annoying
when I don't want to be contacted! I've checked all my
settings and can't find anything to allow me to change
this. I don't want to log on to Messenger unless I
decide to! I have WindowsXP, IE 6.0 and Windows
Messenger 4.7. Anyone know how to fix this?????

On your IE page select Tools - Windows Messenger - Tools -
Options - Preferences - if the top selection under
General is checked, try unchecking it.
