I have been getting blank windows (start an application, a new window opens
but there is no text in it) in some applications and it seems to be getting
worse.
I tried to do a system restore and it worked but the problem was still there.
I want to re-install/over-install XP from my CD but it will not allow me to
do this as I have Service Pack and other updates loaded. The message says
that the current system is higher than the CD and won't continue. I can not
get rid of any of the updates as I am getting the blank windows so I just
keep going round and round.
I don't really want to format the disk just force a re-install from the CD
and then I will update the service packs again...
Any help of finding a way through this please.
Thanks in anticipation.

If you run an XP "Upgrade"setup, from the original, or "Gold" version of the
setup CD, and you have SP2 installed, it would go into a setup loop, and you
would lose your install. Uninstall SP2, BEFORE you do a Upgrade setup from
CD (that lacks sp2 on it.)
