thanks, I ran drwtsn32.exe and found a user.dmp file at "C:\Documents =
and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\user.dmp"
I opened it in notepad but it contains nothing pertaining to the crash =
I'm looking for.
The.dmp file I'm looking for should be created at this location =
C:\WINDOWS\Minidump, at least that is where
startup \recovery has been set to save the .dmp file, but it doesn't =
appear there after the crash, and I've repeated the crash a few times, =
with no luck at =20
finding the .dmp in that directory.

Ricky, minidumps get their own folder. A full memory dump usually ends
up in the root of the boot drive. Sorry I forgot the name that gets
tagged to these files. You should recognize it by the size. It will be
equal in size (pretty darn close anyhow) to the amount of RAM you have
installed. If you still have trouble finding the file(s), may want to
try "search" and use file size as your criteria.

Thanks, let me try and explain my problem a little clearer. In the event =
of a serious error under "write debugging info" I have set XP to save a =
small memory dump file of 64KB at this location C:\windows\Minidump. =
This is where XP should save the .dmp file, which should look something =
like this (Mini051003-01.dmp) but it never appears. Maybe there is a =
service or something else that needs to be enabled first, but now I'm =
just guessing.=20
