View Full Version : TWO PROBLEMS WITH XP SP2

I have noticed two problems with the update:
1: The Windows firewall is constantly getting shut down- can't figure
out what is shutting it down, so I am constantly running spyware and adaware
to check for what's going on. I'm getting ready to put Zone Alarm back on
if I can't figure that one out.
2: To go to the help/support center and try to check "windows Update"-
it hangs when it says "checking internet" It worked for about the first
week and seemed to stop working after about 2 weeks of frequent update
notices. After not getting any notices for about two weeks, I checked and
found it was not working. I can still go to microsoft.com and force it
there, but its the start/Help&Support route that has stopped working.
Anyone have any suggestions as to the fixes??
Thanks
Paul

cannot find it..... (AOL SPYWARE runs in background, ran adaware, also
installed winpatrol many months ago before problem started.
What other spyware checkers are recommended? I've seen others that tell you
you have 14,000 pieces of spyware that they want you to pay $40 for, then it
screws up Windows media player, MS Word, etc.....
Thx.
