I just reinstalled Win XP Pro from on a formatted drive.

It created the Admin account, even though I didn't ask for
it. Is there a default password?

Hi Rich,

If you did not enter a password than the " Default " is null.

At the password blank hit enter without hiting any other key first.

Richard,

Thanks - tried that. That was my initial inclination (a la
Windows 2000 when there is no password set).

This is acting as if I created a password. There are no
other accounts available (not even guest) and if you leave
the password blank, it just give you an incorrect password
message.

These are fresh drives (fdisk and partitioned), so my old
SAM database is gone...

I also tried ctrl/alt/del to get to the other logon screen
and tried a few different accounts and blank account and
nothing can gain access.

Should I re-install?

Thanks
Rich

Their is a fix but I do not know it. No need to reinstall ( I think )

I suggest you wait for another responce or make a new post.

Good Luck
