Is it possible to find the ip-adress of the person you are chatting with in
messenger ?

You have to send a file over msn and in a same time do netstat -n. But if
other person is using a proxy on port 1863, you can't find out the IP.

Hi,

Actually, all traffic goes through the Messenger servers on port 1863, you don't need any
"proxy". The only way you'll find their IP with netstat is if you're doing a [direct]file
transfer or some other P2P feature.

Yes, with MSN Messenger 7 (beta) there is an option to connect directly for IM purposes but
both sides will need to be using it.

What I meant was when the person whose IP you are trying to find out is
using a proxy on port 1863, then it's impossible to do it :)
