I too have an issue with my SoundBlaster Live Driver after upgrading to XP
from ME. Driver shows installed and I have installed the latest SoundBlaster
updates. Tried unistalling, reinstalling, removing Driver, adding Driver,
everything, but absolutely NO Sound. I have seen lots of threads on other
sites about this same issue. Only known fix found is to go into MSDOS and
modify the SWENUM.SYS and SWENUM.INF files. There has got to be a better
way!

I have a SoundBlaster Audigy and it works in XP Pro. SP2. The sound issue
is problematic and yes I too have had my share of sound problems from time
to time with Creative cards. Hopefully, Creative can help you solve the
problem. Have you tried calling them? I have on another issue and was
pleased with their support over the telephone. Mind you this was for a 98SE
hotfix that one Microsoft tech. insisted I call Creative and have a
conference call with them. It turns out that I just needed to call back
Microsoft and have another tech. give me the hotfix.

Unfortunately the card is not under warranty. I have checked their Web
Support and downloaded the latest updates, but no change.

You may need to do a clean install.

BTW, don't expect to get compatibility with old games with XP. In my
opinion, XP is quite limited in this respect and that is why I dual-boot
with 98SE and XP Pro. Also, the interface in XP seems almost toyish unlike
the interface that 98SE has where I can actually manipulate my computer more
easily. However, I am beginning to like XP more as I use it more but I
still will miss 98SE when support ends on 30 June 2006.

Not sure exactly which Uninstall/Reinstall corrected the problem, but my
sound is now working again. One note, ensure you have the correct settings
for your sound for Digital/Analog. Mine was set to Digital and at some point
during all the uninstalls, installs and updates, I set it to Analog. When I
set it back to Digital, the sound began working.
