I readed Windows Messenger 5 was released. But when I try to download it in

Greetings,

The Windows Messenger website is actually not working properly at the moment, you can find
5.0 here:

Thank you for your reply. Messenger 5 installed.

A first remark : with this new release, the incrusted picture with my own
webcam in the lower right corner of the video screen is inversed, like in a
mirror.... But the people at the other side get my picture correctly.

I don't see a lot of changes. Are the main changes technical or are there
visible changes for the user ?

Hi,

Yes, the behavior you're seeing with the video is by design.

There are plenty of both technical and visible changes (they just aren't obvious if you don't
have certain hardware or are specifically looking for it). For example, there are now three
services you can login to using Windows Messenger -- the .NET Messenger Service (the public
network), a local Exchange Instant Messaging server, or a SIP-based Communications Service
(like the Office Live Communications Server). Also, TabletPC "digital ink" support is
included (so you can actually send "ink" to your contacts if you have a TabletPC), as well as
Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) file transfer support.
