View Full Version : XP restarts after SP2 installed

One of our Dell PCs began restarting before login after SP2 was installed. I
formatted the hard drive, made a new partition, installed the operating
system again. I began installing the updates and when I update to SP2 I get
a message about windows\system32\config\system file is corrupt. The computer
will not restart correctly, it has begun restarting on its own again.
This is a Dell Dimension 4400 P4 1.6 GHz; 256M RAM.
No other software has been installed yet.
Thank you.

try getting the install for xp sp2 for the it profesonals. I too have seen
problems like this were the install fails and leaves the system like that. i
downloaded the one that said to install on multiple computers and
everythign always went well after. I'm not sure the cause but having the
entire file was the answer.
