AOL 7.0 trial offer came pre installed on my machine and
I gave it a try which was a huge mistake. I cancelled the
service but I cannot disable it or uninstall it. It pops
up every time an application wants to access the
internet. I removed it as an internet connection in the
control panel so it can't connect but it still trys any
way. Also when I try to uninstall it with the Add/Remove
programs in the control panel, it says that it cannot
find any versions of AOL installed! Has anyone found a
way of getting rid of this nusaince?

Greetings --

Sadly, the only practical way I've ever found to _completely_
remove AOL from an operating system is to format the hard drive and
perform a clean installation. It takes a lot less time than manually
removing/replacing all of the Windows system files that AOL replaces
with their versions and the hundreds of registry entries.
