View Full Version : multiple user application sharing?

I understand that in Netmeeting you can use Application Sharing with
multiple users. In messenger we've tried creating a multiple user session
for Application sharing but we're getting the error message that application
sharing can only be "used with one user". Is there a way to make it multiple
user application sharing? Thanks.

Greetings Frank,

Unfortunately not at this time. You might simply want to use Netmeeting itself (click Start,
then Run, type "Conf" and click OK).

Jonathan, does this mean that even after a NetMeeting sessions has been
initiated between two users via WM, additional users cannot be added to the
session?

Hi Chris,

It depends what you mean by 'Netmeeting' session. If you mean someone chose 'Start
Netmeeting', Netmeeting has started and established a connection between the two people,
additional users *can* be added (either by using the 'Start Netmeeting' option). or manually
calling either of the IPs that are using Netmeeting). However, if it was initiated using the
'Start Whiteboard' or 'Start Application Sharing' feature, you can *not* add multiple users.
But yes (I'm anticipating your next question), if you use the 'Start Netmeeting' option, then
Start the Whiteboard/Application Sharing function from within Netmeeting, you *can* add
multiple users -- the only restriction is when you Start the Whiteboard/App Sharing functions
directly from Windows Messenger.
using the 'Start Netmeeting' option).

Thanks, Jonathan. I was with you until your last sentence:

add multiple users -- the only restriction is when you Start the

Don't you mean '...start the Whiteboard/AppSharing functions directly from
WM using the "Start Whiteboard" or "Start AppSharing" option? How would I
'start the Whiteboard/AppSharing functions directly from WM using the "Start
NetMeeting" option'?

Hi Chris,

What I mean is, using 'Start Netmeeting', then *within Netmeeting* start the Whiteboard or
Application Sharing. Multiple users can then be added to that *Netmeeting session*, and
hence you now can have multiple people viewing/sharing the whiteboard/app sharing.

However, if you just use the 'Start Whiteboard' or 'Start Application Sharing' *within
Windows Messenger* you cannot have multiple users involved in that.

Hopefully this makes more sense.
