I'm having a problem with two computers on my network,
both running XPSP1. On both, neither Windows Messenger
or MSN Messenger will run; I click to sign on and nothing
happens... or it'll try to sign on then tell me that
either my account/password aren't correct or there's a
problem with my Internet connection but I am to go to
another computer on the network and sign on to either
Messenger program and MSN Explorer.
What's even weirder is that on these computers, the
programs were working perfectly - then just stopped
working. I've checked the registry settings and
confirmed that Primary Service = .NET Messenger Service
and the Server is
messenger.hotmail.com;207.46.107.20:1863 and the proper
admin rights are applied for the users of these
particular computers. I've uninstalled MSN
Explorer/Messenger and reinstalled it - no joy here,
either.
ZoneAlarm is used for firewall protection and all
programs are allowed access on all necessary ports and
both impacted computers are virus-free.
If anyone knows what the hell is going on, I'd love to
know - contact me at the provided email address
