I have a Sapphire Radeon 9600 pro Atlantis with 256 M, and I use to have XP,
without any update, my video card working with out anything else, just the
driver to recognize the card, no catalyst, no 4 in 1, not nothing just XP,
and the performance of the card OUTSTANDING, all the games, Far Cry, Splinter
Cell, NFS U, you named, But one day Some friend convince me to updated my OS,
a soon as I update my computer with windows XP the SP2, PROBLEMSSSS, my
games suffer as mucha as my pc, because the games Freeze and I need to
restart my pc,
Maybe someone here has the time, the willing of help.

Please if some tell me that this a problem with ATI, I already contact them,
tehy sent me 6 pages of e-mail, with a generic answers, try everything,
already try with Catalyst latest version 4.12, try with other programs to
setup the hw, I really believe that this problem belongs to both companies.
ATI and MICROSOFT.

Thanks to all of you to have the patient of read this.

Ensure you have no only the latest ATI drivers installed but also the latest
version of DirectX.... www.microsoft.com/directx

Windows update now seems to install the catalyst for ati,the catalst w/o
the control-panel version.XP doesnt seem to run that very well, even DXDIAG
(direct x utility) hesitates in testing 3D modes. The catalyst with
control-panel
runs fine, however if you only want the ati drivers as it might have been
before,
simply uninstall ati from add/remove,then open device mgr, display adapters,
select uninstall,close-out,shut-down computer.On restart,install youre cd and
drivers.Maybe try the new catalyst 4.12 with control-panel first.
