Hi,
I would like to know how to hide my e-mail address when
I "sign in" on MSN MESSENGER. I'm sharing my computer
with several people and I would like to keep my address
private.
To Jonathan Kay:
You had once sent me a download from your site to solve
this problem and it worked very well. I think it was some
kind of registry update or modification. If you could
please send that link to me again I would really
appreciate it.
Thanks,
Rob

Greetings Rob,
I believe you're referring to this:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/disablenetcreds.reg
After downloading/running, you'll need to reboot to see the change.

So let me get this straight: there's no way to simply clear
the dropdown list of e-mail addresses in Windows Messenger
(the way you can clear other lists in IE or even recently
accessed documents in Windows)???
I have to run some sort of registry update EACH AND EVERY
TIME I want to do this, AND REBOOT MY PC??? Is my
understanding correct?
Quite annoyed,
Dan

Hi Dan,
No, your understanding is incorrect. You can clear it whenever you wish -- this is not what
the original poster wanted to do. To clear them, click the Start Button, then click the
Control Panel. Then, click User Accounts in the Control Panel. Select your account name, and
then on the left side of the screen, under Related Tasks, click 'Manage my Network
Passwords'. In the window that opens, you can remove accounts by clicking the passport you
wish to delete [denoted by (Passport)], and then click the 'Remove' button.
For more detailed instructions and screenshots on this procedure, see here:

Also, the .reg file is a one-time thing, once this particular .reg file is imported, names
are never saved again, nor is there an option to automatically save passwords. Again, this
is what the original poster wanted, and is *not* what you want.
