View Full Version : WM icon fails to appear at startup

My WM icon will frequently fail to load and I will have
to reinstall the software.

When I try to reinstall, I get a message that WM is
currently running (even though the icon is not present
and I do not receive email notifications). I must remove
WM under Windows Setup and then reinstall.

Any idea how I can fix this?

Greetings Bob,

Do you have Norton Antivirus 2003 installed? Norton added a new "instant messaging scanning"
feature to Norton Antivirus 2003, which can conflict with Messenger and cause some of this
behavior. To stop it, open Norton Antivirus (Right-click on the Norton Antivirus icon in the
System Tray/Notification Area (by the clock), choose 'Open Norton Antivirus'), click Options,
then Instant Messenger then uncheck MSN Instant Messenger and click OK.

I do not have Norton installed.
The problem started occurring after I installed
Earthlink's "Total Access". I have deleted it from my
startup menu, but the problem still occurs. The problem
only happens after I reboot the computer. Even if
Earthlink's total access is not loaded at the time, I
still lose the WM icon occassionally.
