MDAC 2.8 will not install on XP SP2

Does XP SP2 install MDAC 2.8? I need to be on MDAC 2.8 and I have downloaded
it off of Microsoft's website. The download says it will run on XP. But when
I install it, it says it won't run on this version. Any help would be
appreciated.

Windows XP SP2 should be MDAC 2.8 SP1 Use this tool to verify.

Looks like XP SP2 already has a later version. Checking the registry (in =
a system running XP SP2), the version info is shown as: 2.81.1117.0

For a reliable method, you may use "Component Checker tool" from MS. See =

Yes..I am running 2.81 on my system. I am simply not up to speed on MDAC and
connections to SQL servers from client machines. Some of this terminology is
a bit new. Thanks for the help.
