We've recently moved buildings at work, as a result of this all the
printer names on the XP workstations are now out-of-date and I'd like
to change them, unfortunately I cannot think of a simple way to do
this. Can anyone suggest a neat solution that doesn't involve visiting
every workstation in turn?
We used to use Novell and NDPS to take care of this type of thing, but
due to unresolved issues we no longer use NDPS to distribute printer
drivers/updates, so all the machines are set up to use direct IP
printing. I was hoping changing names would involve a simple registry
amendment, which could be distributed via ZENworks, I've also tried to
create a ZENworks object to do this, so far without success, but
perhaps I've missed something obvious. Has anyone tried to do
something like this and succeeded?
