i am get a message rpc service terminated by generic host
process for w32 --wxphome just installed on my laptop

Greetings Susan,

It sounds like the laptop is being hit with an RPC exploit. To correct, install this patch:
http://microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS03-026.asp

If this happens again (say while you're downloading the patch), click Start, then Run, then
type "cmd" and click OK. Then on the command line, type:
shutdown -a

This will abort the shutdown and allow you to install the patch.

You can then remove any worm that causes this that may have infected your PC using this tool:
