If I do a manual system restore before I install SP2 and
the SP2 doesn't not go in right or I have problems...can I
restore to this created restore point?

During the initial installation of SP2, a Restore Point is
automatically created by Windows XP.

SP2 starts off by making its own giant restore point; if it does not get
to the point where Uninstall has become available, use that point
