STOP 0x00000051 REGISTRY ERROR for XP Home Ed

I have XP Home Ed. It crashed at boot up
with the error of

STOP 0x00000051 REGISTRY ERROR

The microsoft site has the article about this error
but is for Win2K. How do I fix this problem for
XP Home Ed. ?

This may be due to a Registry corruption. See if the System Restore
tool can help: "How to Restore the Operating System to a Previous
State in Windows XP" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306084).
