View Full Version : Is Sidewinder GameVoice Dead?

Sorry to ask this in this forum but I was hoping some Messenger expert might
have some insight on this.

Does anyone know the status of GameVoice? Is it a dead product? The
website "http://www.gamevoice.com" has not been updated forever. The forums
at the site have been down for months. The copyright listed in the footer
of each page is for 2002.

Not withstanding the fact that it does not work well/at all with the latest
version of Windows & MSN Messenger, it appears the Microsoft has given up on
this product.

I have searched the web exhaustively on this subject and cannot find a
definitive answer.

Thanks for any insights you might have.

Greetings Ken,

The product is no longer produced but it should work fine with Windows Messenger however (but
will not work with MSN Messenger 5 and above).

However, Messenger integration with GameVoice isn't required entirely though, you can still
use the GameVoice software and can just use the 'Join A Chat', 'Join by IP Address' option to
connect to users directly (no Messenger required).

Thanks Johnathan. At least now I know. It's too bad as I really enjoyed
the integration it had with Messenger. That was the one thing that kept me
away from other products.

BTW, it the integration breaks in Windows Messenger 5.0 as well.

Thanks again.

HI Ken,

I'm not quite sure why you're seeing that, as it should work fine, see here:

No joy here. I installed the same version of messenger but gamevoice doesn't
like it. I get the "Set up messenger" prompt instead of my contacts in
gamevoice. I've tried this on my neighbors PC and the same thing happened.
When I downgrade to messenger 4.7 the integration works again.

Are you running messenger in Windows 2K compatability mode?
