just did upgrade from 6 to 6.1 and there are issues

Try removing the MSN Messenger folder from:
C:\Documents and Settings\<userNameGoesHere>\Application
Data\Microsoft

Once the folder is removed, Messenger will create a new
one once successfully logged back in.

it did not work i deleled the folder and the same stuff came back
