Drive letter of Boot Disk

I have install a WindowsXP home edition with a
MemoryCardReader connected. That cause the Basic HDD
becomes "H:". I tried to change it to "C:" by following
your "Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 326683". But it
dosn't let me do it ....error message :"Windows cannot
modify the drive letter of your system volume or boot
volume" THANKS !!

I had the same problem. You can always disconnect your USB devices and
reinstall Windows :) If that isn't acceptable I found a utility in
Partition Magic 8.0 which will do this for you. If you don't have PM,
possibly there are other utilities out there which you can download that
will do the same thing. I haven't found a way to do this through standard XP
utilities.

Hi,

You cannot change the boot drive letter designation *unless* it was
inadvertantly changed from it's original designation through a glitch or
some such. In these rare cases, see this Win200 article (the steps are the
same):
