%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,/n, "e:\work\%username%"
The shortcut above will take you to the folder you wish, however, it sounds
like you are wanting to set a default folder within word/excel/etc in their
options, and that would be a different matter. In that instance you might
get a better answer if you posted to the newsgroup for that product.
