sp2 problems with dell lap top

my friend installed the new sp2 upgrade and when the system rebooted,
he cannot get past the password screen.
the upgrade affected the ability of the system to recognize the
existing passwordpassword.

also anyone have any luck loading sp2 on An AMD 64 3200 sysytem.
mine wont restart after upgrade, had to remove sp2 to get the computer
to work again.

Your friend suffers from a type of 'repair' that does relic damage to the upgrade. (userinit.exe)

Running the 32 bit OS on a 64 bit bus ought to run SP2.. I would look into some conflict with DEP
