Running XP Pro- installed SP2 - Many errors?

I Just recetly upgrade from Win2000 pro to XP pro. The upgrade went fine
.....no problems with SP1. I followed the instructions for installing SP2 .
After the install I have the following errors. I can know longer run the
windows update from start\ windows update Icon. I can't access the site
with in windows update. I can't install or uninstall any programs. I
can't run a search from start/ find. This update is terrible. I have
since unistalled sp2 and everything works fine ......no problem. I would
like to install and run sp2 but these errors why do so????

Please advise.

Steve;
There was no reason to install SP-1 prior to installing SP-2.
Follow the Service Pack Installation Checklist to help make sure your
computer is ready for SP-2:
