Shut down prob!

I've up-graded my comp from windows 98 to windows xp and
now when i shut down my comp it dosen't shut down on it's
own. I get a message at the end that "It is safe to shut
down your computer." I never got this message before. Now
i have to press the button on the cpu to turn the comp
off. Can you plese help? Thankyou.

go to control panel and select power options. under the advanced tab select
'enable advanced power management'
