Invalid Product Key error after installing XP SP2

After installing Windows XP SP2 I get an invalid product key error message
just after I click on any user account. Suprisingly I have a valid windows
product. I've already reinstalled the operating system and then installed
service pack 2, but the problem persists. Can anyone tell me a way to get rid
of that annoying message that i get everytime I get when I log-on.

Is this a third party OEM version, or Microsoft retail or OEM version of XP.
