View Full Version : Product activation when you've lost your Product ID sticker

Here's a good one,

Had a problem last night with some config changes, so I had
to re-install XP. Did the usual repair previous
installation, then the machine asked for the product ID.
Oh dear, I cannot find my CD pouch (with sticker on it)
anywhere - must have lost it when I moved.

Did a naughty thing and got an ID from one of those
sites....... Now being asked to activate, yet it won't do
it online - nor do I have a number.

Can anyone point me in the direction of the activation
centre? (This has been a VERY long night!)

You will not be able to activate at all by phone or internet with a
downloaded key.

Actually it can be done, quite easily too.. not legally of
course.

Not to be obvious, but can't you just call MS and get a
new key?

If you expect an awnser here your beard will turn white until then. If you
are using a pirated key and do not know what goes along with it then you
need to do it legally.
