View Full Version : ports needed?

desperate to use audio
January 29th 05, 07:04 AM
I have msn messenger 6.2, xp home, linksys BEFW11S4
router, & can't get audio to work. if I plug the modem
directly to my pc I can use the audio with no problems.
When I did the live support with linksys, they said I
need the port number from msn for the audio. How do I
get this?

Thanks

Greetings,

Linksys is wrong, opening ports will do nothing (which by the way are ports 5004 through
65535 UDP). What you need to do is obtain the latest firmwrae for your Linksys router
(http://www.linksys.com/download), then make sure that UPnP is engaged in the router (see
router configuration screens).

I too have a Linksys router w DSL I cannot connect to Messenger. If UPnP is
engaged
what else can I try.
