winxp sp2 installshield problems

[nokiahelp]

I am trying to install nokia PC suite and everytime I do I get a message
the installshield was interrupted please reinstall. I just keep getting
the message. I also get this message when I tried to install cuteFTP
which also uses installshield. Is there some way to install this
program other than uninstalling SP2 as was suggested to be by someone
else (I don't want to cause more problems on my system). Without this
software I can not manage my phone on my computer. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

If you can't download an updated version try installing in "Safe Mode" (use
the administrators loggin.)

Thanks for the tip but when I try and install it in save mode I get a
1607 runtime error. The computer is a work laptop that uses novell to
login could this be the problem. I am the administrator thought.

Yes, this error is commonly related to administrative rights issues. You
might try ending the process "msiexec.exe," reboot to clear the memory,
start in Safe Mode and try again. Also You might look at the following and
see if it helps or post the question to a novell newsgroup for more specific
advice.

OK I went in to work and tried to install the same nokia software on a
computer there with the exact configuration as mine including novell
but it was service pack 1 winxp and mine is service pack 2. The
software went on no problems first go. So I think the problem lies with
one of the setting in sp2 and installshield will not completly install
the files.

has no one else encountered this problem or know anything that can fix it.
There has to be some way around this problem.
