IIS Holes?

Greetings,
I am using IIS on my XP Pro box to host ftp services.
I've started to hear lots of rumblings that IIS has a lot
of secuirty holes. I'm kinda new to all this so I
wondering if someone could explain where/what the holes
are and how to go about fixing them.
