Desperate here...

- Uninstalled all mc afee products i had (but without restarting pc)
- Then cleaned registry keys related to mcafee. (didnt backup registry first.)
- Restarted pc and got as if all my personal files were erased.
- Did a restore system to a previous date.

PC restarted and said :

The system has recovered from a serious error.

What worries me most is of course the disapearance of all my personal files,
everything has gone.... from folders to pics, music, excell and word sheets,
pdfs, gifs, videos, you name it...... close to 60 GB of data vanished...

The hard drive shows a lot of free space..!!! Desperate here.... have some
very few backups, the big majority of files seem lost..!!??

I have not touched the pc any further until some light is shed.

Would there be a way to recover my files.? pleeeeeaaaase......

I have solved my own problem....

Shut down PC
Removed hard disk from tower
From another PC, was able to recover all possible recoverable personal
files, copy to DVD
Reinstalling windows XP from scratch
etc.....

Cheers to all

Hi,

Anyway, if you need to restore lost data Active@ undelete can really
help you. This is IMHO the most powerful recovery tool I've ever
seen. I'ts algorithm is really mighty! Give it a try, you won't
regret it.

For DOS Uneraser is the best restore utility.
