serial download

[concerned]

I used to be able to download files via serial port
without problems in windows 9x, ME, NT etc. using DOS
programs. It seems there is something that
restricts/slows down
download via serial port in Windows XP.

I have tried this while I am logged in as the
Administrator, and have tried the different compatibility
modes for the program properties. any other ideas???

Locate Device manager from Computer management. Check Ports -> COM1 and
Properties -> port settings. Check that "bits per second" value isn't too
small. Default value is propably 9600 bps, which is very slow. Also click
Advanced button and verify that "use fifo buffers" is checked.
