the start up items that are visible in my system tray are suddenly taking
ages to load. they would normally be there in no time but the system just
sits still for about three minutes and then all of a sudden it decides to
load them.
i have norton internet security (which includes norton anti virus), and
hardware monitor starting at start up.
recent changes that i made before this problem arose are:
1. i uninstalled windows messenger (which had the most recent update) and
re-intalled it (without the update)
2. i have disabled 'messenger' in services.
i have windows xp home 60gb hdd, 512 mb ram, 2.0ghz athlon xp cpu, nvidia
geforce mx440 agp.
