Unable to install HP Laserjet 4 Plus in XP

I have an HP Laser 4 Plus printer that I cannot install in XP. I downloaded the latest driver from HP, but cannot print a test page. The printer works and I can print a test page from the printer test menu.
Any suggestions on how to install this printer

None - MS & HP aren't interested.

If you connect it to the parallel port and reboot, XP should pick it up
