I can't help you fix this, but can offer some advice.
1. Use web based e-mail and you'll never loose it.
2. With web-based e-mail, you're not downloading e-mail
into your computer, therefore, less chance of getting a
virus.
3. Save your files to a CD-R, or another computer on your
home network, then make WinXP boot disks, install them,
then your XP CD, format the drive, reload a fresh copy of
WinXP and your programs, and quit trying to fix
computers! You don't sound like you have the experience
and training.
