Hi,

I have a laptop that connects to the office remotly over a vpn. The
user logs on to the laptop as a domain user. Its cached from when it
was on the network.

So in affect the laptop is always offline (until the vpn is
connected). The problem i'm having is that when its loging on it takes
ages. Can be upto 20 min. I'm guessing its because its looking for the
domain, DNS servers, Loading group policy etc.. Is there a way to stop
this? except for loging on local.

Any help or advice would be great.

Thank you

Simon

Make sure that the user has NO NETWORK connection when logging in..
(It seems that if you have an "active" network connection, such a logon
takes longer - if you simply disconnect the LAN connection (cable) until you
logon, it times out much faster.)

Perhaps someone has a more elegant solution that doesn't require end-user
ability?

The information is provided "as is", it is suggested you research for
yourself before you take any advice - you are the one ultimately
responsible for your actions/problems/solutions. Know what you are
getting into before you jump in with both feet.
