Ok here is my problem. A couple of months ago my computer (running XP home
edition) started restarting by its self. Without warning, constantly. I
would send an error report and it would ust say that it was caused by a
device driver error. I couldnt figure it out so I have been just suffering
with it. Yesterday, I sent the error report again and it said it was casued
by something with my Iomega cd burner (a blue screen error) and it had a
patch to download to fix it. Well, I downloaded the patch and installed it,
restarted my computer and then it wouldnt load any programs or anything. I
click on a program, like Internet Explorer and it just sits there for 2
seconds with the hourglass and just stops loading. Then I have to fix that
with system restore.

The second problem is with my cable internet. The internet will just stop
working and I have to either restart the computer or run the "Broadcom
Control Suite" program that I found and run a test where it connects and
reconnects the internet connection to get it going again. I know its not the
cable modem or my router because other computers work just fine that are
hooked up to the same router. Please someone help if you can this is driving
me nuts!!!!!

Just out of curiosity.. is there any way for you to monitor the temperatures
of your system, cpu, motherboard, etc?

How often do you clean the computers innards?

Have a good one.. hope somebody helps you more than I can.

When was the last time you checked it for spyware, viruses, malware, cleaned
out the temp files, cleaned out the cache, cleaned out your history, deleted
any un-needed files etc? There's a number of good posts in here that will
tell you all about how to do those things if you haven't done so. Your
problem could well be caused by anyone one of the above or a combination of
any of them. You must maintain your computer just as you must maintain your
automobile to get long life and optimal performance. If you haven't done
those recently then try them. If you have done them recently then please
post back with as much information as you can think of (no such thing as too
much information really) and I'm sure that someone will figure it out for
you.

Have you checked the cable and power connections?
Are you using a Universal Power Supply?
What about the electrical outlet powering the computer? I had a power drop
when an air conditioner would start that restarted the computer.

You are presumably blue-screening, and you are set to reboot
whenever that happens. Right-click My Computer, and choose
Properties. On the Advanced tab, click Settings under Startup and
Recovery. Under System failure, uncheck the box "Automatically
restart."

Now when the problem occurs again, instead of blue-screening, you
will get the blue screen with diagnostic information. Post back
with those details for more help.
