Not that I'm mourning, but my previous multifunction (an HP Office Jet)
had Fax features I can't seem to find (or set up) with my Canon
Multifunction. Most of my questions involve the ability to control
Incoming and Outgoing Faxes via my Computer screen rather than simply
(or only) from the device's keypad.

1. Is there a Fax Log (as the HP had) where I can keep track of both
faxes sent and faxes received, and then Access the actual faxes
Sent/Received to Print/Delete or whatever over a period of time?

2. Can I block Incoming faxes from unwanted Senders?

3. Can I set up a Fax address book where all I have to do even months
later is Access the List with all the numbers already stored?

4. Must all incoming faxes be Printed Out BEFORE I can see if I want to
do so (i.e., can Incoming Faxes be directed to go ONLY to my Computer
pending review by me)?

5. If I'm away for a few days, how can I make sure no faxes are
received while I'm away?

6. The Canon software CD automatically installed "Presto Pagemanager"?
Is this important to my multifunction tasks such as Faxing, Scanning,
or is it just a superfluous piece of software?

Even answers to one or 2 of these would be helpful b/c I don't feel I
have the control or the functionality in Fax Mode that I had with the
HP Office Jet.

PS--The Canon software did not even seem to install a Desktop icon
for Management of all four functions. Things seem unbundled and
dispersed. I have no prob with the Copy or Print modes, but no clue how
to maximize use of the Fax mode.

Sorry for rambling on.

The Windoiws XP Fax service included with the Operating System has NO
ability to use ANY brand or make of multi-function
fax/printer/scanner/copier machine, it can ONLY be used with an analog fax
modem. To use any Fax fetures with the Canon MFP, they MUST be supplied by
the software Canon includes with the unit.
