After setting up my wireless network and adjusting my
internet settings, I found that the icon in my taskbar
for "safely remove hardware" is gone. How do I restore
this?

It is only there if you have a device which can be removed while the
computer is running and has to be shutdown first. Examples would be
USB card readers, cameras and removable storage devices. If you
just unplugged a USB card reader while data are being transferred,
you could lose some of the data. Devices such as scanner or
printers can be unplugged at will. A network device would require
that all open connections be closed before disconnecting. Wireless
devices usually have quick disconnect built-in since the connection
can be lost at any time without prior warning. You could go out of
range, your battery could run down, the host could be turned off or
authentication could fail.

The utility was present prior since I have a USB CD
burner installed.
Now, even though the USB CD burner is still installed and
plugged in, the utility is missing.
Help!

Put a disk in the drive and see what happens.

Even with a disk in the drive, the drive on or off, the
utility for "safely remove hardware" is missing. Prior
to establishing my wireless network, it was there.
Any new suggestions?
