View Full Version : VERY slow Start Menu action

I am running XP on a P4 2.4GHz with 256Mb RAM.
When I click the Start Menu and go to Programs, it can
often take up to 30 seconds to show the next menu. Then
if I pick any of the program groups, it can take another
20-30 seconds to show the details under that one! This is
happening when the Start Menu is in either the old or new
configuration.
Any tips?
Thanks!

This is already in place - in fact, I have already
unchecked all of these "special features" that make the
computer look pretty and run pretty (pretty slow, that
is). :) Anyway, the issue with the Start Menu occurs
with all of these features turned off.
Has anyone else run into this? We have it occurring on
quite a few of our computers - and on the ones where it
doesn't occur, we can't tell anything readily different
(settings, etc.), other than that we have varying types
and speeds of computer. (Mine is one of the newest and
fastest.)
Thanks
