I just did a complete reinstall upgrading to Windows XP Pro. Everything had
been working fantastic. I just upgraded to SP2, and now the new Windows
firewall is blocking my network connection and I cannot access the internet.
I don't want Windows firewall on at all as I have Mcafee Firewall+.

How can I disable Windows Firewall from blocking my network connection?

Control Panel>Windows Firewall - turn it off.

The strange thing is that I have turned off the firewall, but it's still not
accessing the internet and when I check the network connection it states that
there is limited or no connectivity.

Usually that error message means that you aren't getting an IP address
from the DHCP server. How are you connecting to the Internet? Did you
also install drivers for your network adapter when you reinstalled XP?

Network adapter was recognized by windows and the driver appears to be
functioning fine. I connect through cable modem. I have the IP address set
to be automatically detected.

Before installing ServicePack 2 for Win XP the connection was working
perfectly (especially since it allowed me to download SP2) After
installation, it's not working.

Thanks for the help thus far.

I did find this website:

http://www.pchell.com/support/limitedconnectivity.shtml

I'm going to try this fix when I get home.

Thanks again.
