Can't finish win xp sp2 install

When downloading winxp sp2, it seems to stop - the box shows WinXP finishing
processing but hangs there. Nothing seems to be happening at all - I had it
run for about 10 hours and nothing happened. Has anyone had this issue?

Retry after you have disconnected all the hardware that is not needed
for the installation (all but monitor, keyboard, CD drive, mouse).
